I really love the color of these pants—that blend of violet/purple and magenta/pink—they are truly great little pants. One thing is for sure: they are definitely wide-leg pants.
The waist runs a bit large; they looked quite small when I first received them, but the elastic waistband isn't particularly thick or substantial. It seems the manufacturer assumes Americans have either very full or very long hips, so with most of their pants, you have to pull the waistband up high to ensure the crotch area is comfortable—and this pair is no exception. However, given the affordable price and good quality, it’s not a deal-breaker!
I’m 5'4" (approx. 163 cm) and chose a size M; the waist fits perfectly. But unless you’re looking for that super-loose fit (like I mentioned), these might not be for you—unless you’re willing to wear the waistband above your belly button. After all, there aren't many pants designed specifically for petite women on the market, so some compromises are inevitable—like pulling the waistband up high or pairing them with an opaque top to cover the fit.
Still, when you really love a pair of pants, you’re happy to make those compromises—which is why I’m writing this review; I genuinely love them, and they feel soft and comfortable to wear.
I initially thought the pants had pressed creases, but it turns out that’s just the texture of the fabric, so there’s no need to worry about the creases fading. The hem is well-finished, but a word of caution: I’ve bought similar shorts before where the stitching came undone after just three washes. So, unless you’re handy with a sewing machine and know how to handle this type of hem, you’ll have to re-hem them if the stitching unravels.
All in all, if you’re tall, I think you’ll really love these pants; if you’re shorter, you can try styling them differently—provided, of course, that you’re open to that look. Given the affordable price and the unique style of these trousers, I think they are well worth getting. If you don't care for the tie, you can easily remove it; it attaches in a distinctive way—not like a standard drawstring threaded through the waistband—and serves purely as a decorative detail.
